It's the beginning of a new year and you must have desires you want to see fulfilled at the end of the year especially concerning your health. Remember, health is wealth. Having desires alone will not bring them to pass. This guide will help you establish good habits for good health and achieve your goals.

1. Have a reason

For example; if you want to lose 50 pounds at the end of the year, it may be because you want to feel healthier and look prettier. When setting out health goals list, you must have a reason why you want to achieve the goal. This reason will be what will get you out of the bed and taking a walk or whatever exercise routine you want to start out on.

2. Make your goal SMART

SMART is a mnemonic that stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely.

Specific: your goals should be as precise as possible. Don't make generalized goals.

Measurable: there should be a metric through which you measure your progress.

Attainable: If you are set health goals for a year, you need to bear in mind that year is made up of 12 months or 3666 days as in the case of 2020. So your goal should be one that can be accomplished within this time frame.

Realistic: based on your current set of skills and abilities, are these goals what you can do or do you need to train for them? Be genuinely honest with yourself.

Timely: take the yearly goal and break it down into months, weeks, and maybe even hours. Set a deadline and reminder to help you achieve your goal.

3. Get Accountability

If you find that your commitment starts to wane during the year, the best way to stay on track is by seeking the help of an accountability partner. You may need to hire a personal trainer, register with a gym, or join a group of friends who want to stay healthy and fit.
